Manilla Lion’s Club Update

The 11th of August was an especially tough day for the Hirst family who lost everything in a devastating housefire.
Despite the dramatic circumstances, it was fantastic to see, how our community members pulled together to supply basic essentials for the family and raised money just within a few days.
Isn’t it hard to believe that this is already one month ago?
We know that regular life just kicks in and we tend to forget about those things, so Manilla Lion’s president Jim Maxwell spoke to the family to see what still might be needed. Based on that, we decided in ourlast meeting to donate a substantial sum in vouchers to the family to be spend in Manilla shops.
Our monthly Lions Raffles help us to raise money for all sorts of community projects.
Next raffle will be on Friday, 22nd of October. First price is a $50 voucher to be spent as you choose at Manilla businesses, PLUS a $50 voucher for a 1h simulator flight with up to 6 friends or family (alternatively: a $50 discount for a joyflight in a glider soaring over Lake Keepit)!
Update on the Can Collection for our local cancer sufferers – collection point @ Wood’s Garage: $3,562.30.
Manilla Lion’s next monthly meeting: Thursday, 28th of October at. 11am @ the Services Club.
We are looking for volunteers to help with the can collection… you are welcome to join us.
