Peter George Heywood better know to the local community as ‘Skeet. Peter was born in the maternity hospital in Alice Street Barraba 90 years ago on the 6th December 1930 and now lives in Alice Street 3 doors down.
Peter was one of 10 children sadly who are all deceased so Peter is the end of his family connection. Peter has been a hard working man since the age of thirteen, he has turned his hand to dairy farms, stockman and general hand to name a few. Peter was a devoted carer and partner to ‘Eileen Fox and Robyn King spanning over approximately 40 years. Peter has devoted many hours of his time in volunteering in the local community delivering meals on wheels over 26 years. Peter as has various awards for recognition from meals and wheels along with being the senior citizen of the year also.
Peter is a walking enclycopedia with local community knowledge and is more than happy to share with other locals or tourists.
Today family and friends are gathering to toast this wonderful man on another decade. People have come from, Newcastle, Sydney, Tamworth, Toowoomba, Wollongong region, Manilla and Barraba.
