TR's on Queen Street

Last week Barraba was visited by some fine automobiles from the TR Register Club.

Nine TR sports cars from the NSW Chapter of the club dropped into Barraba while on tour. The TR national gathering at Stanthorpe has been cancelled and the NSW Chapter organised a rally around regional NSW in its place.

The Triumph TR range of cars was built between 1953 and 1981 by the Triumph Motor Company in the United Kingdom. Club mem- ber, Alan Mitchell, explained the sports cars are referred to simply as ìTRsî, in the same way MGs are called MGs, not the longer ëMorris Garagesí for which the initials stand.

The TR, also known as the ìBulletî,was the first Triumph car to use the TR designation. It was envisioned as a personal luxury car, and still has a passionate fol- lowing.

The NSW Chapter visited the Barraba Silos before calling in for lunch at the Barraba Bakery, Saunders Green Grocers and the Queen Street CafÈ. Amongst the cars parked on Queen Street was the very rare ìSwallow Doretti
