Barraba celebrates it’s 100 Annual Show

The 110th Annual Barraba Show is gearing up to run over the first weekend of March with the committee pulling out all of the stops to deliver a CovidSafe, family day out. The two-day show will be held on Saturday 6 March and Sunday 7 March at the Barraba Showground.

The buzz of excitement surrounding the show can be attributed to this year’s special feature – bees! The show will showcase bees across a variety of displays and demonstrations. The theme of bees will carry through the pavilion where the art and craft exhibitors have been challenged to be creative.

Barraba Show President, Dave Penna said, “Despite everything, we have been able to put together a very good program of events. As well as the traditional show events, there will be some great entertainment and a special feature on our good friends the bees.”

Entry into this year’s show is free, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy everything the show has to offer.

Entertainment planned for the weekend is diverse. Murphy’s Puppets will deliver three live shows and will be found roaming around the grounds. Vintage machinery and classic car display and a vintage shearing competition feature, as so all the favorites in sideshow alley, an animal nursery and the exciting six-bar show jumping.

The Commercial Apiarists Association, Tamworth Branch will also offer demonstrations on commercial bee keeping and can answer any of your sticky questions about bees.

With two full days of horse competitions, showjumping, cattle, sheep and wool, poultry, junior showgirls, yard dog trials and pavilion competitions, this year’s Barraba Show still doesn’t skimp on the tradition of a country show.

Since its foundation, the Barraba Show has been a major event in the Barraba community calendar, drawing large crowds from the outset in the early 1900’s. Now, in its 110th year, the event still offers an exciting, family friendly program for everyone to enjoy.
