A strong roll up of 18 Attunga School students attended last Sunday’s Anzac Day march/service in the village, and principal Mrs Worley was full of admiration for her students, their parents and her staff for the effort put into staging the successful event, including the afternoon tea at the community hall afterwards. School captain Lara Coombes delivered a speech on 100years of the RAAF, then Lara was assisted by vice-captain Jarvis Shilling in laying a wreath. All students in attendance tied their own hand-made poppies around the memorial gates.
Attunga recently hosted schools like Dungowan, Somerton, Duri and Currabubula in the WLA Cross Country Day at the village’s rec ground. Champion and runner-up medallions were awarded while Currabubula was named highest point scoring school.
In readiness for this Sunday’s Mothers’ Day, the school’s P & C will conduct a craft afternoon today, tomorrow and Friday. Gift Order forms for students to create their own individual gifts for mum have been sent out. And from May 17, Year 6 students will travel to Canberra for their annual five-day excursion. Parents are reminded that payment for this trip must be finalized by this Friday.
